Definitions:By definition, the FSO's road vehicle stock includes all civilian vehicles registered on 30 September belonging to owners who were resident in Switzerland on the day of reference. The commune of residence is defined by the postal code and postal locality in the owner's address. Analysis of these addresses has recently been improved, resulting in a backdated correction of fleet data from the years 2005 and 2006. Discrepancies in the stock by canton are roughly under 2% or in most cases less than one in a thousand.Canton The canton is defined by the owner's address and not by the registration plate.
