Bank of Botswana

The establishment of the Bank of Botswana followed a decision to withdraw from the Rand Monetary Area (RMA) under which the South African rand had been the legal currency in Botswana since independence in 1966. As the Bank’s responsibilities continued to evolve, its organization has been subject to regular review to ensure that it continues to successfully achieve its mandate. In line with this, the most far-reaching re-organization in the history of the Bank was effected in July 2010
