In this table not only the years 2000 and 2010 are presented but also future projections of the age-dependency ratios. In the Netherlands as well as in several other countries ageing is expected to grow in the (near) future. Also the young-age dependency ratio may decrease. These developments will influence the labour market and the balance between the active and non-active part of the population and so the investment climate. Note: Comparable definitions are used to compare the figures presented internationally. The definitions sometimes differ from definitions used by Statistics Netherlands. So, the figures in this table could differ from Dutch figures presented elsewhere on the website of Statistics Netherlands.
